Obituary of Sheila M. Mohler

Sheila M. (Simpson) Mohler, 82, of Puyallup, passed away on January 17, 2024. She was a grandmother, mother, daughter and friend. Her favorite job was being a grandmother. Sheila was born in August of 1941 in Arlington, WA. Her family lived in Arlington and at their summer cabin on Camano Island, WA. She moved to Puyalllup for a teaching job at Stewart Elementary in 1964 and had lived there ever since.

Sheila was a Camp Fire girl and a member of the I.O. Rainbow for Girls in her youth. Her family belonged to the First United Congregational Church. She was a talented pianist who played for her church and school events. Sheila graduated from Arlington High School Class of 1959.

Sheila chose to become a teacher following in her mother’s footsteps and attended Western Washington State College WWU in Bellingham. She graduated in the Class of 1963 with Bachelors of Elementary Education and Music Education degrees.

Sheila met Richard Mohler in Puyallup and they were married in August 1965. They were married 55 years and resided in Puyallup. They attended Puyallup First Christian Church, South Hill Christian Church and Faith Covenant Church.

Sheila is survived by her family of two daughters Suzanne Foster and Marianne Sweet; one son Levi Mohler; son in law Bill Sweet; two granddaughters Autumn and Olivia; and two grandsons Aidan and Arel. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard; and her parents William Simpson and Helena Millicent (Van Namee) Simpson.

Graveside services and interment will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on February 12, 2024 at 1:30 pm where she will join Richard. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 15, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Faith Covenant Church 1915 Washington Street Sumner WA 98390.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Covenant Church or the Puyallup Food Bank.
